Originally my initial idea was to was to capture the working life of my father - a long distance lorry driver. Picturing weeks away from home, transporting goods up and down the UK. How seemingly dull, repetitive, thankless and yet vital this job is and the lifestyle that comes with it.

Unfortunately, before Christmas 2006 my father failed a medical that all drivers must pass once over the age of 50. Suddenly he was out of a job, and 2 generations of my father’s family driving lorries came to a sudden and sad end.

My photographs in the first half of this book show a week on the road, and now serve as the only photographic record of my father's job.

My photographs became much more than just a documentation of weeks away, they became documentation of what direction my father takes after spending all his working life in transport.

After losing his job, his time is mainly spent in the pub with friends, with tales of life in his old neighbour hood. The fiercely working class district of Everton in Liverpool. The book is now more a portrait of my father.

I've tried to capture the rawness of my father's working class attitude within each photograph. It’s not my intention to sensationalise, be political or whatever, only to make work that is as spiritually meaningful as I can make it.

The book i have produced (below) showing the complete crossroads series will be availible to purhcase shortly. Contact me for details.
